Today we are having a Waltzing Party as part of our Gaudete Sunday celebrations. As we always end parties and dances with the seasonal anthem to Our Lady, this afternoon we will sing “Alma Redemptoris Mater”.
I often forget the middle part, and some dancers might not know it at all, so here it is (above) with a translation (below):
ALMA REDEMPTORIS MATER
Kind mother of the Redeemer,
who remain the open gate of heaven and the star of the sea:
help your falling people who want to rise,
you who bore your holy Parent, while nature marveled:
a Virgin before and after, receiving that ‘Ave’ from Gabriel’s mouth,
have mercy on [us] sinners.
